Most breeds need to be vent sexed. This is tricky and I don't know how. If you get them through a hatchery, you can get all pullets, since they know how to sex chicks. It's usually 90-95% accurate, so you risk getting some cockerels. If you want all females and great laying hens, I recommend red sex links. You can tell their sex by their coloring, so you are guaranteed all females. For an added bonus, they are one of the calmer breeds.
