I bought a Cayuga hen yesterday that has some white spots. The people that I got her from, who I trust, said she was under a year old, but someone told me that she is an old hen because of the spots. So, I came to you guys....

Thanks!

Hi,

If she is a first year hen or older the white spots are ok to use her as a breeder, when the white shows up on older female they will produce great colored offspring.
But if the white turns up as a juvenile female you will always have to battle white on youngsters. Hope this helped.

So it is possible that she really is under a year old, but white spots on young birds are not a good quality as far as breed standard?
