Who is the Daddy?

"She" just hatched this morning. Mom is a White Crested Black Polish (LF). Dad possibilities are Buff Silkie, quail D'Anvers, White Crested Black Polish and bantam Cochin. Legs are black with no feathers. My guess is the d'Anvers because she looks just like him when he was a baby and she is a tiny thing.



I'll keep the thread updated as "she" grows.

I agree that it has to be the d'anvers. Couldn't be the silkie or cochin because it doesn't have feathered feet. If it was pure polish then it would have more of a crest.

Would a feather footed parent always give feathered footed offspring if the other parent was clean legged? I'm still new to chicken genetics and that is one I haven't learned yet.

If it is the d'Anvers, I can't wait to see what the baby looks like grown up, will be interesting!

Oddly enough, the little one that hatched a few hours later, same Mom has a little tiny straight comb. Its almost too small to see but its definitely different.
