OMG I have a Salmon Favorelle Roo that sings so loud , he drowns out his hen while she is laying her egg. You would think He's the one laying it. Lol

He gets Everyone else going too , especially the ducks .
Between the quacking , Bob clucking and the other Roo and his hens singing ( whether or not they are laying too ), it's enough to wake the dead. Lol

So , who else's Roo gets down with their girls ?

Haha its funny you mention that my roo, Marty, does the same thing. I think its him confusing the "egg laying song" with the "Omg danger! song" but ya whenever someone starts clucking he starts clucking louder. I can't tell you how many times I've run down to the pen thinking something was wrong just to find out it was Marty trying to out do his girls

Stan will let it rip on occasion.

Good thing I live way out in the country.

Well, sort of. When one of our chickens sings the egg song (which is rare) and all of them are in the run, no one ever joins in. It's a solo performance that is ignored by all. If they're free ranging, Remy will join in for the chorus in his own "special" way.

If they're out free ranging and get the urge to lay, they'll separate from the flock and start making their way back to the run (bless their little chicken hearts). This drives Remy a bit bonkers, because he'll notice and escort them all of the way back. Once they get to the coop and the hen goes in, he seems to suddenly realize that the rest of the flock is not with him and runs to catch up. He'll then try to get them all back within the vicinity of the coop/run, and succeeds about 75% of the time...and he'll keep them there until the laying is done and everyone is back together. The other 25% of the time, whether the hen decides to sing or not, he'll shuttle between the coop and the flock every 5-10 minutes until the laying is done, and then escort whomever laid back to the flock amidst BAGOKBAGOKBAGOKBAGOK....because I don't think he knows any other words to the egg song.

We have multiple roosters and they join in the egg song even more than the other hens. It can turn into quite a ruckus. I sometimes can't tell the difference between the egg song and when the flock is calling out in alarm.

My rooster does that too! He is the only bantam cockeral in there so all I can hear is high pitched screaming.

My rooster finds a nice sheltered spot perfect for secret egg laying, he clucks very loud in that spot and soon as the hen comes over he sits on the spot and wiggles his body while clucking as if he is saying "This is where you will lay your egg, I want perfection! ". Then he springs off the spot and lets the hen sit in it, in which he stands next to her almost the whole time until she lays an egg. Does anyone elses rooster do this??
