I have an odd situation. I've been putting my baby chicks in the chicken house at night in a cage to keep them contained. But two nights ago I awoke to a surprise as one cage was completely dead. The heads were wet as if a snake tried to eat them but was too small and killed one after the other trying to eat them. I haven't seen him since. Is it possible he died trying to eat such large chicks or why did he leave them. Super confused.

Baby chicks should be in the house until they are big enough to escape from snakes, rats or mice. When they can roost with the big chickens they are safe to be outside in the coop.
I doubt the snake would die from that...he just moved on probably.
