Will the plastic on these Metal Staples harm my chickens?

Hi all,
My DH decided to use the metal staples pictured below to attach the hardware cloth to the ventilation windows in our henhouse/coop. However, they have blue plastic as they are Cable Insulated types. He thought that the plastic would help hold down the hardware cloth. So I am worried that the chickens will chew and eat the blue plastic. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance!

I would not use those because they will not hold the HC securely enough against predators,
screws and washers are the best bet, or 1 1/2 long fencing staples either hammered in or or with an air driven stapler.

Those plastic pieces could be ingested by the chickens...probably not, but I try not to leave stuff like that lying around.
