Winter chicks: reducing daylight hours to prevent early egg laying

@Aunt Angus and @Poodlemum Thanks to you both for your info! We currently have ~12 hour days in Albuquerque. It's sounding like most people don't worry about the light and day length for chicks hatched in the off-season, and don't have problems with early egg laying, binding, prolapse, etc. I moved my girls out to their coop today, and tonight will be their first night there. We'll see how things go!

All this is so very interesting. But now that my head is spinning from it I think I'll just retreat to my Chick mamma corner and honeys let nature do what it do with my up and coming flock. Seems easier.
