Hi all
I've got a young rooster who is now 5 months old and although he has started crowing and making attempts at mating, some (but not all) of the girls bully him badly.
He was the only chick which hatched and introducing him some months ago to the older girls went okay. He started at the bottom of the pecking order when he was still smaller than the rest, but now he is the same size, if not bigger, but some girls still don't accept him.
He is a big softy and a cry-baby (today he jumped up when a blue tit flew over!).
Do you think he'll become more confident as he gets older and his hormones start raging more? Are they establishing a new pecking order with him at the top?
Or is there is no hope for fertilised eggs this spring? Roosters should be the top of the pecking order, right?
Any information is welcome!
cheers,
