And we have made it to 6 weeks old! Well, some are only at week 5, but they are close.
I think I may be starting to understand the differences between signs of a cockerel and a pullet. As this is my first time raising chicks, it's amazing how fast they grow and how nerve racking it is to not know if it is a pullet or not. So, here's this week's pictures. I decided to include them all and see if anyone agrees with my guesses.
Barred Rock @ 6 weeks (I really don't know)
Specked Sussex @ 6 wks (I think cockerel)
Buff Orpington @ 6 wks (I think pullet)
Amber White @ 6 weeks (I think pullet)
New Hampshire Red @ 6 weeks (I think pullet. Also my special needs chick w/ deformed leg growth)
Then there's my two 5 week olds:
Light Silver Laced Wyandotte @ 5 weeks (I think pullet, definitely the more timid one)
Dark Silver Laced Wyandotte (I think cockerel)
So, as always, any insight or guesses would be great. And if you have a particular reason why you think one way or the other, please share your reasoning. I am trying to learn all that I can, and there is only so much you can just read about without having something to compare it with.
