Zipping process

How long does the zipping process take? I have a chick who pipped Saturday night, and come Sunday morning there was a small hole in the egg. All through Sunday the chick starting the zipping process, opening more and more of the egg. Well now its Monday mid-morning and the zip has not made a lot of progress, it isn't much more than it was last night when I went to bed.

How do I know if I need to help the chick out or not? Does it usually take a couple of days for a chick to break out of the egg? Like 48 hours?

i have had chicks that poke a hole and wait more than 12 hours

my longest wait has been 16 hours from external pip before they start to zip

but once zipping they take minutes to get out
