Caring for Pigeons in an Aviary or Indoors

I've enjoyed pigeons sharing my life for decades, in the loft as well as a few special needs in my house. They truly are wonderful, affectionate pets & the ones that choose not to be affectionate are very adept racers & flyers. I liked reading your article & yes it is true, the bigger the better when it comes to a loft, so even on bad weather days (hurricane or blizzard) they have some room to fly around indoors.

Just want to add a tidbit. There are different types of grit available, which they need to help digestion, as they eat grains whole. Mine go nuts over the pigeon grit that smells almost like liquorice. 😆 I get it through a pigeon food supplier, along with their feed, Purgrain in Pennsylvania. There are many types of grain mixtures, some have more smaller grains or are geared for breeders or racers, etc. If you find a good feed supplier, they often carry the grit, too.

Excellently written and well explained.
I'm not planning on having pigeons but I'm glad there'd be such a good article written by a well experienced owner.
Excellent article. Covers basics and is an easy read with lots of photos and tips. Well done.
Very informative and covers all the basics of keeping pigeons. It answers all the questions a prospective pigeon keeper would need to know, but might not think to ask. And I love the pigeon pictures!
