"Old Glory" Herself!!
This page is dedicated to our own labor of love. I thought that coops really needed a name, much like a car I believe it may bring luck. The words "Old Glory" stuck in my head. While at a supply store, I walked by a clearance rack that had Americana decor. Being the patriots we are, it really caught my eye. The best part (aside from the rack being 90% off) was the tin sign that said "Old Glory". It was meant to be!! Being completely new to this, I really am proud of how the coop has come up. Some 2x4's by husband got from work, some chicken wire (that doesn't lay flat.....hmmmm)...some Americana...and this has become my favorite project yet. I encourage anyone to build it yourself! The pride that comes out of it all is unmatched, and the gleam in your husbands eye when it stands on its own is priceless.
The coop is attached to the outside of our garage. This is the stage we're at right now, we don't have the roof up yet.
Still unfinished, this is the henhouse. We made it out of an old work bench. The top will be attached to hinges for egg removal. I would like to add a bit more onto it, but for now it will be a safe place for them away from the elements (just as soon as I get their ramp set up.)
The coop is finished! This winter we'll put up more to keep them away from the cold, but for now, the weathers nice, they're safe, and they LOVE the coop!!
