I got 13 baby chicks from a farmer, almost 2 weeks ago. I've lost 4 to coccidiosis, and now they have lice!

Is that farmer selling sick chicks? Or is it normal for chicks to have so many problems right off the bat?

Anyway, I rubbed them down with food-grade diatomaceous earth this morning, after cleaning out their brooder. Will that be enough or should I do more? Should I continue with the rub-down daily?

(I know DE is a little controversial, but it's what I have on hand!)

For lice you need to go get some permethrin dust and dust them, 'cause DE will not work.
