I have found that the air rifles really effective. I have a Benjamin marauder .25 cal pre-charged pneumatic its quiet and powerful. I've never done it but I have seen it take down deer. also trapping and shooting are effective but should not be the only tool in the tool box. A secure pen and trapping and shooting work best. The shooting and trapping keeps the population down and the secure coop keeps the ones that do out.Trap often and secure well ventilated coops.
The Duke dog proof leg traps work very well.
I haven't found anything less than a .22 long hollow point to be effective.
