Fertile?

I have some eggs that I plan to set soon. and out of curiosity I candled them. How can I tell if they are fertile, or can I even tell at all?

Candling will not reveal anything as that process is only useful to detect and track development after incubation has begun. The only way to tell if eggs are fertile are to set them and monitor after that, or sacrifice a couple of eggs that you can crack and check for the tell-tale bullseye on the germinal disc, which would indicate that the other eggs would have a good chance of also being fertile.

Yes I agree with Ol Grey Mare, you don't have any other way to tell the eggs are fertile or not but this will work if all the eggs are from same hen so Good luck and happy hatching.
