Whenever I have wormed my chickens I have noticed them eating the worms that they have expelled. Isn't this defeating the purpose of worming when they just ingest them again? I tried to get answers on the Internet but have not been successful. Please help with any advise you may have.

That would depend on the type of wormer you used. Say we're talking about roundworms. There are a few different types of concoctions that get rid of these. Some actually kill the worm and some do not, they merely paralyze the worm so it detaches from the intestinal wall and is expelled. But these worms are not to be considered dead by any stretch of the imagination. They are just temporarily 'stunned'. I believe Wayzine treats roundworms in this fashion. Others actually kill the worms, in which case re ingesting them, although not appetizing nor encouraged, is probably not all that harmful.
