Rooster with scabby/bruised chest and red spots on legs. Should I worry?

My 8 month old roo has had a scab on his chest/belly kind of where it rests on the roost for several weeks. The scab has fallen off but there seems to be blood under the skin and the feathers do not seem to be growing in. Aggressive mating or something to worry about? Also for the same period of time I've noticed red spots on his legs.

He act totally normal. Eats, mates and bosses the girls around like usual. You would never know something was wrong by looking at him.

Is this normal or should I take him to the vet?

He has what is called a breast blister, and those can develop into an abscess over time. Causes are roosting on the floor, or remaining on a roost for long periods of time. I once had a rooster in a bachelor pen with 2 others, and he developed a breast blister due to staying on the roost for most of the day since he was bullied by others. Also mycoplasma synoviae, a respiratory disease that affects the joints, can cause this when a chicken lies around on the ground due to pain in the legs. His red spots on his legs may be normal redness that is common in virile young chickens. Here is a little reading about breast blisters:

Thanks Eggcessive. Those articles sure look like his breast. He free ranges during the day and doesn't roost any longer than the hens do. Any ideas how to prevent it from becoming an abscess? Padded roosts ?
