Just read up on pox. That may indeed be it but the spots don't seem to be "scabby" in nature...??? Also wondered if it could be caused by some sort of mite. Either way I need to dust my entire flock, I suppose, since I haven't done that yet. The fowlpox deal doesn't sound too pleasant so...

My 6 month old rooster has developed what look like large black smudges on his face and comb. It isn't dirt or anything that I can wipe off. He has had a nice bright red head until about the last 3 or 4 days. Any ideas what this might be and if I should do anything about it? Thank you.
