Mixed flock feeding (chicken/duck for eggs only)

I have a mixed flock of a few hens that are a year and a half, a hen and a roo that are 5 months, as well as 5 ducks that are 5 months. I switched them to flock raiser food when the newbies were old enough but now that they are about ready to lay I am unsure what to give them... Can I feed them...

7-6-11 My 6 month old rooster has developed what look like large black smudges on his face and comb. It isn't dirt or anything that I can wipe off. He has had a nice bright red head until about the last 3 or 4 days. Any ideas what this might be and if I should do anything about it? Thank you...

4 month old chick having seizures??

The poor thing seems to be having them quite frequently! They only last 10 to 15 seconds but are quite violent with a lot of flapping of wings, head down to ground, and turning around in backwards circles. She has them anywhere from 2 minutes apart to a couple hours. If anyone has any...

4 month old chick having seizures??

My 4 month old buff Orp. started having seizures yesterday. She is otherwise healthy, still eating, drinking, and growing like the others. About a month and a half ago she was having some problems walking, kept tipping over sideways. I got some different food that my local store recommended...

Oh, good to know. Thank you! I only have one other full grown adult. I have never seen my hen tear into the rooster before but maybe she got fed up with him.

Rooster has black smudges on cone and face

Would you recommend this treatment? "There is no absolute known treatment for fowl pox. To prevent secondary infection treat the bird with 1 tablespoon of powdered Terramycin per gallon of drinking water or 300 mg of oxytetracycline (Terramycin) per gallon of water for 3 days. To help the birds...

Rooster has black smudges on cone and face

Just read up on pox. That may indeed be it but the spots don't seem to be "scabby" in nature...??? Also wondered if it could be caused by some sort of mite. Either way I need to dust my entire flock, I suppose, since I haven't done that yet. The fowlpox deal doesn't sound too pleasant so...
