The op above this post is probably right. I have coturnix but never have let them out because they live in such a small pen they can't fly very good. My bob whites live in a giant flight pen & are conditioned for flight.

I let bob whites out of their flight pen to run around my shack. They have hatched their own eggs & I've seen them bring their clutch up to the house, Not sure if they made it but yes they can hatch their own eggs. I guess if you let your coturnix out at an early age they would do the same...

I don't let them in my house but they are running around my shack. They will come up to me when I call of course I give them some scratch. They will call back to me when I call. Cool liitle birds.

I have one hen thats been sitting on eggs for along time. Not sure how many days. Now some others are following her lead. I don't think there gonna hatch. I'm now worried because its been along time. What should I do? I really don't want anymore chicks right now & I'm ready for them to quit...

Outcome was good. Left them locked together for 5 days. Then let them out. Had some go to their old coop but just picked them up & took them to their new coop. Now, they know where to go. It was a smooth venture, Thanks all

Haven't posted in a long time! I have two flocks of chickens that live in two different coops. There off springs of each other & free range together. But live in different coops. One coop has 6 hens. The other coop has 9 hens & one roo. I'm putting them together in one coop. I need the other...

I've integrated birds a lot. I just make sure there the same size & the ratio is good. It gets very hot here. 100 degrees is not uncommon matter of fact its the norm.

Yup!! They will get in a corner & huddle if they get cold. I have a bunch of Bob Whites & they get in one corner all balled up & do fine. My coturnixs do the same. I usually never worry about the cold. Its the heat thats really hard on them. You will find out if you ever process your birds that...

They can take the cold! Just keep the wind off of them. The birds will ball up to keep warm. As far as when to add birds. Wait till there the same size & put them together. Keep the ratio right. Around three to one.
