thank for the reply and your advice!
Sadly that's all 3 that were poorly now passed - 1 died last night and 2 today. Also found 1 dead in the coop last night and another 1 today (they 2 showed no signs yesterday, seemed healthy) so I really don't know what's going on.
No vets in our area treat...
Sadly we lost the other 2 and then also found another 2 dead - they 2 didn't show any signs and were perfectly fine yesterday so I really don't know what's going on.
I don't plan on culling, we have them as pets not for eggs or meat so I will see how this goes.
Still no luck as of yet to the...
Thank you for all your help!
I'm in the UK (Scotland).
It's Sunday so will be able to contact our local farmer vet tomorrow hopefully as not had any luck as yet.
Sadly today we lost the other 2 that were not well, and lost another 2 (1 last night and 1 today) that never showed any signs...
I also read about treating the soil, do you have any recommendations for this?
I'm newish to chickens (4 years and never experienced this before, heard about it but always hoped it wouldn't happen to us)
I will definitely be doing that in future, I thought buying from the shows (where there...
Sadly I've just found another dead (one who wasn't separated and wasn't showing any signs) so I think your original reply is right, it's already been passed on the rest.
That's very true. Usually for quarantining I have them at a different location from my hens and in a hut. But as you've just...
Thank you for your kind words, yes after replying I went to check on her and she was gone. Hopefully rest will be ok. Checked on the other two and they're much about the same (head bobbing and runny eyes) one still has her feisty spirit (went to clap her and she pecked which is her usual...
Thank you for the information! Feeling quite sad (my little boy loves our chickens) so will be heartbreaking to cull although I know that's probably the best option. Curious if it's been the new ones from this summer or last summer who has brought it to the flock. I've always bought from very...
Thank you! Sadly I think possibly mareks. The third one, the one who became ill today I noticed her lose power of legs/wings (like temporary paralysis) stayed like that for a few mins then regained balance but then it happened again.
Any advice if it is mareks, with my other hens? Any way to...
Thank you for the reply! Mareks did come in to my mind, I replied more in detail above to a previous poster. I lost 4 hens at the start of the year so makes me wonder if it has been something like that as I know it can lie dormant.
Sadly I don't think she's going to make it through the night...
I'm in the UK (Scotland).
All my chickens I have got through poultry shows and all hens/cockerels were meant to be checked prior and all fine.
The first 1 that went unwell is a Japanese bantam crossed with a silkie bantam (she was one we had hatched in the summer)
Second one (who is the worst)...
Thank you for the reply. We do but it's not open until Monday and none of our local vets treat poultry/chickens :( (we stay in a very small village) we rely on a local farmers vet but haven't been able to reach him as of yet
so I have a flock of 15 hens 2 cockerels.
The other day I noticed one of our chicks from the end of summer wasn't looking that great, one eye was shut and she was off balance. I immediately separated. Next day one of our older hens became the same gloppy eyes, bopping of the head and what...
