Alright. I'm completely at a loss with my chickens. Last Tuesday night I came home to find one of my Dominique chickens dead. I truly had NO signs of trauma and I could see nothing in poop and stuff to give me a real cause of death. In my area we do not have a vet that specializes in chicken...

They are 14wks, is that still young to not want to roost? My rooster and silkie are older than the rest and they do not roost and I'm not entirely sure of their age cause they were brought for me as a gift and the buyers didn't ask But like I said my silkie lays. The rest do not yet. SO I would...

Alright! I have 20 hens and a rooster. 7 of my girls use our roost, the highest bar. The rest still prefer to sleep huddled in the corner of my coop. I can keep showing them the roosts and such and they just won't get past this. I only have one girl laying (my silkie) the rest have not reached...

Well, i used the stuff. And I put her in with them last night came back in this morning and MORE head feathers are gone and they were trying to peck at her with me there. :( So I decided to separate and keep her that way until they are healed. Or at least for a few days or so to have them...

Should I then continue to keep her separated or will she be ok to put back in once I do this? Sorry, this is my fave gal that got hurt. (go figure! its always the favorite! lol) But I want to be smart about it! lol

I had a polish chicken that found herself on the lower end of pecking order this morning. One of my silver laced cochins pecked and made her bleed. I have separated my polish but I have heard that there is something you can put on their heads to help hide the evidence of this to deter the other...

Thank you everyone!!! I love my polish! They are seriously my biggest babies! hahaha They are not afraid of anything and they love to be held. Probably some of my fave birds out of all mine! And the barred rocks are actually Dominique I believe! Their combs are like Dominiques.

Thank you SO much for your input! I add a chick "log" its a log snack the hangs and they can peck and snack on! I'm hoping that helps them stay busy!! I did get blu kote and I plan on putting that on this afternoon as another precaution. Thanks a bunch !!
