    Meyer Meal Maker… what breed?

Thanks to auntiejessi3 who posted this and helped me out in identifying my meal maker… You can look up the hatch date and it will tell you what meal makers were included from that day… https://meyerhatchery.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023580191-What-is-the-Meyer-Meal-Maker-

Speckled Sussex gender? 10 weeks old

Here’s a pic of our 10 week old speckled Sussex pullet. I’m not at all experienced with the breed but in comparison of comb and wattles, I’d guess cockerel.

    Obsessively broody hen any ideas

We had the same issue. Nothing worked until I order 2 fertilized eggs and let her hatch them out. She was a great mother and hasn’t gone broody since. That was about 18 months ago. Of course, both chicks turned out to be roosters, but had no problem rehoming them.

Can you ID my mystery chicken

Thank you to all who replied. Someone posted this chart which confirms speckled Sussex from her 8/8/22 hatch date. https://meyerhatchery.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023580191-What-is-the-Meyer-Meal-Maker-

    What breed is this?

Thank you so much for posting this chart. It confirms what everyone else has told me my MM chick is…a speckled Sussex.

Can you ID my mystery chicken

We ordered 18 chicks from Meyer Hatchery (love them). They have a “meal maker” program where they send you 1 extra chick of their choice with the understanding you will donate the eggs (or meat if you order meat birds) to neighbors/the community. Anyway, they sent this beautiful bird, now 10...

    Breed?

I got my first group of 10 chicks about four years ago, raised them together and two ended up being roosters. Once in a while they would square off, but they wouldn’t fight. One became dominant. I ended up rehoming them to a zoo only because I didn’t need roosters and they were brutal to my...

    Pretty sure I’ve got a roo…

Our local small zoo took the 2 Roos from our first flock. When our buff Orpington became broody and nothing else worked I got 2 eggs for her to hatch. Great mom, but both Roos! They found a home together via Nextdoor app.

Anyone have a guess as to pullet or roo?

OK, big relief. Thank you so much. I would hate to have to rehome a pet that turns out to be a rooster.

Anyone have a guess as to pullet or roo?

Thank you so much… Do you see anything different in the tail feathers of the Hamburg and the fibro that would indicate maybe roo?

Anyone have a guess as to pullet or roo?

Totally agree. Her/his tail feathers are much shorter, but not the nice rounded feathers I’m used to seeing on my four older hens. Fingers crossed all three of these are pullets.

Anyone have a guess as to pullet or roo?

Thank you so much to all who replied. All pullets - That’s what we were hoping. The tail feathers on the fibro weren’t like the neat & nicely rounded ones on our older hens (different breeds though), so we were concerned. Thanks again!

Anyone have a guess as to pullet or roo?

I have three new chicks and as I am new to these breeds, wondering if anyone has a guess as to the genders. They will be six weeks old tomorrow. The first is a blue Andalusian and I’m pretty sure it’s a pullet. The other two I’m not so sure about. One is a silver spangled Hamburg and the other...
