    Got My Goslings Today

I'd be very concerned about having that many males. Even if they were to credit you back for the whole bunch of them, they're still going to fight each other. If you're just keeping them for meat it might not be a problem but if you're keeping them long term they'll probably be a handful in the...

Shrink wrap bags for processed poultry

Email Nadya at Nadya's Poultry. Her email is [email protected] She sends out a free piece of tubing and free zip ties with her shrink bags. The tubing is used to seal the bag without poking a hole in the bag. She would be able to explain what type of tubing it is. You just put the tubing...

    Tub plucker recomendations?

I'm just bringing this thread back to life because my EZ Plucker had the same problem where people got shocked. As it turns out, the metal parts of the plucker were not wired to the ground wire on the cord. It was an easy fix to ground the frame and luckily nobody was hurt. If you have one of...

Question on 4.5 week old Cornish X's

That's incredible growth for 5 weeks. We feed a 20% protein feed 12 on and 12 off and get males at around 2.5 pounds and females around 2 pounds in 5 Weeks.

Help with peking ducks.I built them a habitat, but they refuse to sleep outside.

All winter long my ducks stayed outside and I wished they would go inside. You'd think that on a -20 degree day they would want to be inside and out of the wind but they just tucked their heads under their wings and stayed out there under a tree.

Should I order 100 meat chickens?

I'm glad to hear you went with the 25. 100 is a lot more work than 25. Maybe next time you can find some other people to go in on 100 together so you get the better price. I, like a previous poster, slaughter a bunch as cornish game hens. It's really nice to have a roasted chicken dinner in 40...

    Eating muscovy ducks?

I sometimes cook a skinless breast and then chill it. I then slice them up and make a platter with sliced duck breast and sliced cheese. Every single time people have assumed it was beef. It's absolutely delicious.

Where can I buy meat birds

If you want 25 or more, order them online from the closest hatchery to you. If you only want a few, a feed store or Craigslist.org would be a good place to look.

4.5 week old freedom rangers- not eating grass

I feed both Cornish X and Freedom Rangers 12 hours on and 12 hours off and they eat lots of grass during the 12 hours when there is no feed. It just takes them a day or so to figure out it's food.

    Meat Bird Storage...

I buy the poultry shrink bags from here: http://www.nadyaspoultry.com/shrink-bags.html You'll get them in a couple days and the prices are the best I've found and you can buy only a couple if that's all you need. They even gave me a free sample bag to try. They are hands down the best way to...

    Northeast CT Poultry Processing-anyone help?

I used to know a guy in Woodstock that would do it but he has passed away. I think the guy he worked with down there still does it though. Try putting an add out on Craigslist. It's worth a shot and you never know who might reply.

Any suggestions on a good plucker

Having used a Featherman and an EZ Plucker, I prefer the Featherman and here is why. The EZ Plucker plucks the birds faster than the Featherman but it also breaks more wings and legs. It seems to spin faster and has more aggressive plucking fingers. If you drag your hand across the fingers on...
