Hi!
Is it possible to have a Black Roo and a Blue hen have a lavender chick?
This seems to of happened to me and I'm confused.
how would this be possible out of the combination? Wouldn't mom and dad have to both me recessive carriers of the lavender gene?
I have black bantam Orpington roo and blue bantam Orpington hen.
I hatched two eggs 4/5 and I got a black cockerel and what appears to be a lavender pullet?
Is my roo a split?
Or will she darken with age? She is almost 5 weeks old. [/IMG]
I bought one from the manufacturer- I use it on my bantam Cochin. It isn't 100% but with many days of finding the right adjustment I can get it to be somewhat effective. It has to be very low on the neck and much tighter than I thought would be even possible!

My leghorns produce fantastically but are terribly mean to all my other hens. They are battery cage rescues and viciously attack many of my other hens. Not a fan of them outside of their laying capabilities.
