So the last week or so I noticed my hen walking widespread and feels quite heavy. I assumed it was water belly since I’ve had to take care of before. When I went in with the syringe nothing came out . A few hours later noticed a few droplets of blood but when I checked her I didn’t see anything...
Thank you everyone ! I was successful and it was unbelievable the amount of fluids that came out . I am hoping that I don’t have to repeat this procedure lol. Very awkward position when doing alone .
What if I don’t hit the right spot . I know I may sound ridiculous but I’m so concerned that I will do more damage. I have an 18 gauge I’m going to go buy a bigger syringe and Eesh I hope she will somehow stay still. Thank you
She’s two years old and I have no idea when’s the last time she laid . I did check to see if she’s egg bound but no. She’s standing in a corner with her stomach really heavy. I’ve given her tums and nutridrench in her waterer. Where do I drain her
I have a suspicion that one of my hens is suffering from this as well. I’m terrified to try and drain her. How do I know where and what if it’s not ascites? Please help
So I managed to look in her mouth can’t see very well the throat . Going to need magnifying glasses lol . It’s by feeling the outside of the throat. Wasn’t even sure if it was normal I checked my other ladies and they didn’t have this . This bird is a boarder . Such a chatty thing
3 chickens for the winter . One ameracauna other no idea what she is and a silkie. Ducky was sneezing. I have given the three a treatment of antibiotics giving vitamin d and provided them with nutridrench. Only Ducky had symptoms. The silkie passed away on Monday . No apparent illnesses. Ducky...
So quick update it looks like an upper respiratory infection has hit my flock . Praying I caught it on time . Vet dropped off some antibiotics. How long do you think it’ll take to see a difference ?
