Can pickled eggs be left on the counter indefinitely?

I know this is an old thread, but the pink color concerning pickled eggs is generally from beet juice; not saltpeter.

Do I put the entire edible flower, weed, etc. into the deep litter coop?

When using the deep litter method, can I put the entire flower into the coop, stem and all? Do they eat the stem? Do I put the pulled yard weeds and cut grass into the coop as is, or do i have to chop them? When I put seedless grapes in the coop do I throw in stem and all? They DO have free...

How can eggs not be filthy?

Lol. I like when people tell it like it is. Although I would never eat raw eggs, your reply makes a lot of sense. I am somewhat of a germaphobe. Some would ask, "Why do you even keep chickens then?" To that I would answer; They are fascinating.

A coop with no windows. Does this matter?

Don't the chickens eat the wood shavings and droppings when they are eating from deep litter?

Don't people throw scratch, scraps, treats, etc. onto the deep litter and let the chickens mix it up (aerate and turn it)? When they do this, how are the chickens not eating the wood shavings and poop? ... and yes, I know there are thousands of pages on deep litter at this site alone. I looked...

How can eggs not be filthy?

Thanks, aart. I was going to delete the OP, but sunflour helped me understand a bit better and I'm still curious and confused. That I understand, but the entire chicken is ... how can I say this? --- A Chicken. It digs, scratches and even dust bathes in its own feces and excrement. It is...

Don't the chickens eat the wood shavings and droppings when they are eating from deep litter?

I don't get it. The chickens eat the wood shavings and droppings when they are scratching and eating deep litter? How are they not? Isn't the food that they are scratching for and eating covered in wood shavings and chicken excrement?

How can eggs not be filthy?

I was going to delete this question, but sunflour gave a very comprehensive answer so I'm leaving it. I've been researching. There is a ton of contradictory information about washing or not washing eggs. Then there's the debate on warm water or hot water. Soap or no soap. I understand the...

A coop with no windows. Does this matter?

You answered your own questions. That's great. Perhaps the link I posted (in this thread) about open air coops would also help you understand how this works. I was being facetious.

A coop with no windows. Does this matter?

Insightful. Yes, it is big enough. The entire top of my coop props open/can be removed. There is plenty of light while I'm home. My concern is about light when I run errands for an hour or two. Thanks, I'm enjoying them very much. My next coop will be bigger, definitely have have a window...

A coop with no windows. Does this matter?

I agree with both assertions. I think a lot of people would benefit from the awareness of what's called an open air coop. I'm not suggesting that everyone should use one, but that it exists as sufficient, suitable housing (when actualized properly). I think the realization that this type of...
