    Lice infested bedding.

Thanks, yea I was thinking that after I threw it out there. I can keep them out of the run for awhile. They can go straight on to the yard, but a couple months of that? So they'll just keep getting reinfested, wont they, if I let them out there

    Lice infested bedding.

Hello. I had to clean my coop out today for a lice outbreak. hens are treated, coop cleaned out, but all that bedding is now in the run. Will I have to burn this future black gold now to kill the lice or is there something I can treat it with? Spray with liquid premethrin? I hope? Thanks for...

A hen who cant hold herself up

I look back and it was a couple weeks ago she starting staying on the roost all day. That alerted me but it was her first molt too. Thought she was just having a time with it, it being her first one. She was fine every other way. I brought her some food while she was up there and she'd eat...

A hen who cant hold herself up

Thank you. Hey whataya gonna do. It was quick. Wished it went the other way. Farmers have a saying. Where theres livestock, theres dead stock. Everyone else appears fine so I'm thankful for that.

    Rat problem

I think that pheromone sets off the cannibalism too.

    Rat problem

What you don't realize is, when rats die let let off a pheromone so if you just change the bait, or even the trap, the smell is still there. Now you've educated your rats. DONT EDUCATE THE RATS. If we were smarter than them theydve been gone hundreds of years ago. We use them for drug testing...

A hen who cant hold herself up

She wasn't 15 weeks. She was a year and a half. I had to end her suffering a few days ago. I came home from work and she was burning with heat and smelled foul. Probably in a lot of pain too. she couldn't hold herself up. Had to let her go.

A hen who cant hold herself up

I got home from work and she's still alive. She doesn't hold herself up. If you let her go she falls flat on her face. Heres some pics of her vent, todays feces, her head, and legs. I started her on Duramycin 10 but I'm thinking it will be to no avail. Any thoughts? Thanks ahead of time, Colleen

A hen who cant hold herself up

Thanks drumstick. I looked for worms and looked for lice/mites but I'll continue to check when I have a chance again in daylight. Birds are something I'm still learning about. The VO worked on the dog when she was blocked so I went for it. Now I know better. Thanks again for your 2 cents :)

A hen who cant hold herself up

Thank you ladies. I looked up egg yolk peritonitis and that might be it. It doesn't sound too good however I did come across a thread on here where someone tried Durimycin 10 and they came around. Maybe that wasn't what their bird had. Idk, but I broke down the formula to 11 oz, pulled the...

A hen who cant hold herself up

Thanks Eggcessive. No more enemas. I'll try to watch her intake and add some electrolytes. I have no chicken vitamins but she shouldn't have any sort of deficiency. They get good feed. She drops her tail a lot and goes down. then stands back up. That was today anyhow. She was easily going after...

A hen who cant hold herself up

Well theres no egg for sure. She pooped so her vent it clear. I don't see any mites or lice (which would've been quite the surprise). She's been in a crate all day. She's not doing well. I wish someone could help. I really have no idea. I don't want her to see the wrong end of a shotgun in fear...
