4 Cayuga Ducks in SE New Hampshire

Hello all, We are relocating down South and the town where we will live has an ordinance against poultry keeping. We are seeking a LOVING, SAFE HOME for our ducks. We have a drake and three females, 5 years old. They are very pleasant ducks and it breaks my heart to part with them, we raised...

My duck hasn't molted in a year and a half

Okay, I think I will make an appointment for her. I've been reading about how to transport ducks and I think I'm going to put a small dog crate in the back of my wagon. Is it better to bring a friend with her so she doesn't freak out or would that just stress out two ducks?

My duck hasn't molted in a year and a half

Hi everyone, We 'rescued' two Cayugas from someone who had too many ducks in a small space. They weren't in great condition - their feathers weren't waterproof, they smelled bad, and they were skinny compared with the Cayugas we raised (about the same age). This was in November 2015. Since...

    Possible Allergy to Duck Eggs??

I find that if I eat more than a couple of eggs I get a stomachache, no diarrhea or nausea, but I'll have a stomachache for a few hours. I think it's because the eggs are so rich.

    Cayuga Duck Club!

I have five Cayugas! We got two females and a male from Cackle Hatchery last year, and then "rescued" a pair of females. They are so happy and cheerful to be around. They started laying around Thanksgiving, and now we get 1-3 eggs a day.

    Duck Toys

Just for a little entertainment, I put pine cones, sticks (longer than 6" and thick enough to not break easily), and large acorns in the pen with our Cayuga ducks. Easy, free, and I throw them in the woods after a couple days. I tried to roll a small rubber ball toward them once and they HATED...

Help - my duck is vomiting

No pictures, I wasn't at home at the time unfortunately, my hubby was texting me while I was at work. Last night after I posted this she had a couple of drinks of water but no more vomiting/regurgitation. This morning before we let them out I checked her crop because I thought she might be...

Help - my duck is vomiting

One of our rescue ducks tonight vomited black liquid - no food in it, and she hadn't been turned out in the yard to forage since about 11:30 this AM, this was at about 10 PM tonight. She has pooped, but won't eat her regular pellets or feed. She was shivering a little bit, but seemed to be upset...

    Post your Duck names!

Oooh, oooh! I love to talk about my duck's names. All 5 are Cayugas. Token is our male - he's very handsome. My husband named him that because he is the "token male". Freya is his #1 lady - she's named after the Norse goddess Freya, who rides in a chariot pulled by cats, has a cloak of falcon...

How can I make my ducks calm down?

We have a couple of nervous rescue ducks and I find that being calm and talking to all of them kind of calms them down so I don't surprise them. For example, "here I come with the hay cart!" Even though I probably sound like an idiot to the neighbors, the ducks know where I am and I'm not...

Take a look at this rescue duck

Rescue update! It's been a week since we brought the new girls home. I tried to get some side by sides and profiles but they are moving around with the flock and it's hard to get them by themselves anymore. They are getting waterproof and look like they're gaining weight. Today they came up and...
