When can I start giving poulets garden weeds?

Ready to do a lot of weeding, dandelions and the like (they've never been sprayed with weed deterrent) and we always threw big piles into the coop where they would select what they wanted with dandelions at the top if the list. Is there an age to start giving weeds to them or just whenever they...

Aggressive rooster & 10 week old chick integration

Thanks for getting back.He is a young rooster that grew up in the wild, they forage and then go into a coop at night in the farm across from me. The tractor is 4x8. Yesterday a couple got out and he was chasing them all over. I need to integrate them before a trip next week so thinking I'm going...

Aggressive rooster & 10 week old chick integration

Thanks for nothing! Don't mean to be rude but you did not answer one question of mine, just that I should get rid of the rooster. I have roosters for a number of reasons and yes, they can sometimes be a pain but I like the way they keep the hens in line, no more missing tail feathers and he does...

I need them, they protect from hawks, I have too many trees around. I've been doing this for almost ten years and always integrate at night.

Aggressive rooster & 10 week old chick integration

Preface: Major deaths this year from raccoon's; Chief, a gentle but stupid 5 year old protector, another nice protector dude that was just fitting in but @ 4 weeks later he was gone along with 3 hens during that mix met their maker. All secure now but **** So now I only have 4 hens left...

Thanks, I talked to the people at the feed store and they think so too. I'll check the treatment link you provided, thanks again!

Rooster has lump on bottom of foot

There's a little bump on their feet like in the palm area that is 4 times larger on one foot than the other. He is visibly limping and favoring it. Does anyone know if this is something common?

Played a trick on an egg eating hen and.........

I tried the video camera thing but after watching chickens for a couple hours doing "chicken stuff" I determined it would be a good method of getting someone to talk. Enhanced IntrEggation...

Q's about adding Turkeys to the chicken coop

Great info! They free range in their yard and I lock them in the coop at night for fear of coyotes, raccoons, bobcats and the like. The fence is only 4 feet and the chickens can get over it but generally don't because they don't like being separated. We don't let the chickens free range all over...

Q's about adding Turkeys to the chicken coop

We have 18 laying chickens and one rooster. We were thinking of getting 2 turkeys to raise and eat for thanksgiving and the holidays. Do I have to do anything special? Are they heavy? Do they perch? Do I need to support the perch's more due to their weight? Can I feed them chicken feed? Will...

    Is it molting

Whoever's near by is his favorite... One rooster and 18 hens, not sure if he has time for a favorite! Kidding aside though good point, no pun intended. I'll see if that might be it... Thanks!

    Is it molting

One of my Amerucana's has a bald spot near her tail feathers going up her back about 2 inches and about an inch wide. She seems healthy and the skin isn't red and I don't see mites or anything (the flock just got a big dose of garlic rice for mite control) so not sure if it is molting or I...
