Help? Hen with white spots on her comb.

I tried picking one off but I was worried about making it worse so I left her alone for the time being. I did have someone suggest it might be Favus so I am going to try some anti-fungal cream to see if that resolves the issue. Thank you for your response!

Help? Hen with white spots on her comb.

Hello. I have a year old Easter Egger hen who I noticed yesterday has these raised white spots on her comb. They almost look like calcium deposits that are stuck to the comb. When I researched this, most results that pop up are about it being early signs of fowl pox. I have not noticed any...

Introducing a Polish Chicken to an Existing Flock w Rooster?

I’m part of a couple of local Facebook groups that, if I needed to re-home her, I could post to see if anyone in my area could take her. And she is a female! The backstory is my manager placed a special order separate from our big order of chicks for a customer for 13 chicks but the hatchery...

What breed are you most excited to add this year?

My rooster is an Isabella Leghorn! I don’t hear many people talk about the breed, so that’s exciting!

Introducing a Polish Chicken to an Existing Flock w Rooster?

Hello, all. Now that spring is here, I plan on adding some new chicks to my existing flock of 7, one rooster and six hens. I work at a place that sells chicks during the spring and in our recent shipment we ended up with a single Polish. I believe she is a Silver Laced Polish, but she is the...

    Hen Limping, Possible Sprain?

Yes, she did! She was limping around for a few days and I kept an eye on her but she recovered within the week.

    Hen Limping, Possible Sprain?

Hi, all. I have a nearly one year old Sapphire Gem hen. I noticed today that she’s limping. It doesn’t seem that bad, she’s moving around, kicking up dirt and leaves in the yard, but it’s noticeable enough that she’s limping. I wasn’t able to spend much time out there with them yesterday, but...

    8 Month Old Hen Molting?

Hello. I have an eight month old Partridge Plymouth Rock hen that I think may be molting. I’m a little concerned as to whether the reason for her loss of feathers is actually molting. Since she’s still young and it’s January, although I’ve read that some chickens will molt at any time during the...

    Opinions on Predator-Proofing

Hi, all! I have a pre-fab coop from Tractor Supply that I plan on using until I’m able to complete my long-term goal of building my own coop and run. Now that it’s built and painted, the next step is predator-proofing. Originally I wanted to bury hardware cloth to deter digging predators...

    3 Week-Old Isabella Leghorn - Possibly a Roo?

Hello! As the title states, I have an Isabella Leghorn that hatched April 13th, so a little over three weeks ago. My coworker and I ordered some specially for us to buy and take home, but mistakenly they were a straight run. My coworker who also got one of the Isabella Leghorn that came from the...

    Introduction

Hi, all! My name is Isabella and I’m starting out with my first flock of backyard chickens! I’ve wanted chickens for year and fortunately I work at a place that sells chicks seasonally and was a perfect introduction to chicks and inspired me to finally start my flock. I have a Sapphire Gem, an...
