She has really perked up after the surgery! She was holding her own quite well when the scratch+mealworm treats were tossed out. Azygous, I thought just like you did, that she would be hanging back more and having trouble navigating. She was doing a great job getting around and finding the...
I've got quite the update. Just call me a big ol' sucker and a softy. Why did it have to be my boys' favorite chicken? I knew these were pets from the start, so I was prepared to deal with that, but if it had been any other in the flock...
Well, it turns out she got her eye pecked out. That...
Good news! The second flushing was much more productive. In fact, most of it is starting to separate, but it's not quite loose enough to come off. The next flushing might get the majority of the crust off. She is perking up (tried to nip me several times during this second treatment...

4) No other birds exhibiting symptoms at this time
5) Might be an injury...
I have chickens for the first time, I was going to get three, at most four, and I got five. They are three weeks old and I'm already thinking of what kind I might want to add to the flock next year
How many chicks were you thinking of getting? Do you have any varieties that you were inclined towards?
There are several great articles here on BYC. I've followed them and my chicks are doing great despite this being my first time (though my husband grew up in a farm and they had poultry)...
I disagree with the other commentators. The ACV promotes beneficial probiotic growth; current research says the pectin is the key ingredient in this process. Once established, you can discontinue, and I would think that a few weeks of life would be sufficient for a chicken to get their gut flora...
