EIGHT in one DAY! Bold little bugger, must have kits somewhere near by. The birds are locked up at night. I will be looking for light breeds or banty pullets. I like to keep up to 10 non marans, 'cuz marans are not consistent egg layers. All the ones taken this time were either young...

Well.... I'll be looking for some birds this year. **** Fox just took 8! That brings his total to 20 this year, mostly young pullets too inexperienced to run. I can't get that fence up soon enough. If it had not rained so much last weekend we'd have it up already. Oh well :-(

Saw my fox yesterday. I interrupted him going into the coop! He is a very leggy red fox. Never seen one who stood so tall! This weekend is fence weekend. Time to protect those Marans breeders. My blue rooster who was attacked by the fox is much better and back out with the flock. But...

Vermonters... I know you are all planting Gardens but....... you all are way too quiet! We are seeing an uptick in predators here in Bristol. Fox during the day Coyotes at night. I'm planning a daytime pen for my best breeders to keep them out of the foxes mouths. How about you guys? -Keara
