    The Dorking Breeders thread

They do all have 5 toes and single combs. They were a breeding stock so missing alot of their back feathers. When their 30 day quarantine is up I will be taking over one of my hens from my current flock to stay in with them for an additonal 15 days to make sure they are not a carrier for anything.

    The Dorking Breeders thread

I just acquired a stock of Meyer Hatchery silver grey dorkings. I was able to get 8 hens and 2 cockerels. They are on a 30 day quarantine and hoping to get them looking less rough in that amount of time. I hopefully posting pics of all of them with weights as soon as I get them home. My...

Dog Kennel vs Coop with Run

So looking at different options for a chicken coop with a run. Would it be better to get a 10x10 dog kennel and just put a coop inside or to build a coop with attached run. This will be for 6-8 hens. I also plan on letting them out during day when Im home until I know for sure my dog with...

Looking for a good place to start

The side that I would have had to worry about that with I have put up a privacy fence. I got tired of having 3 random dogs that would come in the dog door all the time last summer because they got hot being outside. Though I cant blame the dogs much I would rather be in the AC when it was 98...

Looking for a good place to start

Ohh she defiantly could go over the fence if she wanted to but she knows that if she ever did she would be chopped liver lol. I have seen her clear a 4 foot jump up onto my parents porch from a sitting position. I think she has springs for legs. I was very lucky that she is content with...

    Hi All

Thanks everyone! I will probably be starting into my chicken adventures after I get back from vacation next week. Will let everyone know how that goes. Im sure as soon as I do I will be even more confused and have even more questions than I do now.

Looking for a good place to start

Thanks that really does help out a lot. Because of my dog (she is a black lab/german shep mix) I am more than likely going to do babies. She is a really weird dog. She will adopt any baby animal that she has been around so far and they then become hers. This has been so with pups and...

Looking for a good place to start

So I am new to all of this and looking at getting a few chickens. I have a 4 ft chain link fence around my back yard and will be building a coop with a run. I would like to eventually allow for them to have free reign of the back yard. So my biggest questions are: 1: What is a good number of...
