    Arwen is Laying in November?

Yesterday, my Sebastopol Arwen laid an egg. Sebastian and she have been mating for the past couple of weeks. Arwen and Sebastian live inside the house at night and when we are not home. Is this normal?

Anyone else fascinated with the Nature show that's just about ducks?

For me, I couldn't view it using Firefox or Chrome. It worked using Internet Explorer though.

    Sebastian Started Mating with Arwen

Hello-- Yesterday I witness Sebastian mate with Arwen. I saw them do this twice. Sebastian: 1 1/2 years old Sebastopol. Arwen: 2 1/2 years old Sebastopol. We live in Minnesota. They are outside during the day and inside the house at night. Isn't it several months too early for this...

    PEKIN OR RUNNER DUCKS?

People told me and I've read many times that Pekins make wonderful pets. I have 2 Pekins (drakes) that I raised from ducklings and they are not very friendly. One will eat out of my hand. Neither of them like to be held. (They are currently living inside my guest bathroom while one is being...

All but 1of my mallards have left, what to do with a lone duck?

Hi DuckMamaMN-- Unfortunately, your lone duck's days are numbered unless she's put in an enclosed, predator-proof housing. At no time is it safe for ducks to be left outside "free." Your duck has either imprinted on humans or is too tamed to humans to be released in the wild. Ducks that...

Indoor Duck-- is this a problem?

Cute duck and cute boyfriend! I have 2 geese that live inside (during the day, when we are home, they are in a fenced-in area outside). I also have 15 ducks and we rotate which ones live inside. As long as your duck gets plenty of direct natural sunlight (not sunlight through windows), a...

    Amusement for ducks in winter

I would still give them some toys. It couldn't hurt.

Who keeps their ducks inside at night??

We originally got geese to help protect our chickens and ducks. Here's what happened to Vinny: My husband opened the door to let our geese outside while were getting ready to go to a child's birthday party. Vinny ran out the door to her kiddie pool to snack on some minnows. (She loved her...

Who keeps their ducks inside at night??

Thank you. Vinny was so special to us. She always slept in the house with us. Vinny would come when called, loved to cuddle, and loved being the center of attention. I still cry about losing her. She was one in a million. All ducks deserve predator-proof housing...especially for nighttime!

    Amusement for ducks in winter

My ducks aren't crazy about cabbage (I assume you didn't mean feeding them suet, but using the cages!). I do like to hang lettuce and other treats, though. I think they have fun pulling out their treats. I also hang toys up. I get baby, parrot, or dog toys that are durable and don't have...

Who keeps their ducks inside at night??

Hi-- The pictures are great! Thanks for sharing them. Please never leave them outside once it starts to get dark outside. Miss Lydia is correct when she states that it is only a matter of time before they get killed. I recently had a duck killed outside. She was only 15 feet from my...

pet ducks ------------------on the lighter side of things

My geese and ducks are pets, just as my dogs are pets. I don't understand why that's difficult to understand. Since they are PETS, I would never eat them, just as I wouldn't eat my dogs, either. Sometimes I need to explain to people about why they make good pets and why I love them. I just...

    Duck with bloody nose

I would open up her beak and see if there's a puncture wound inside the beak or mouth. Is it still bleeding or did it congeal?

I'm so sorry for my asinine questions but alas, I have another one.

They are eating the food more than before since there isn't as much food to forage. When ducks eat their pellets/crumble, they must have water. They go back and forth between the water and pellets. This leads to water getting into their food bowls. The wet pellets soften and begin to look...
