    FF feeders?

We just started our first batch of meat birds about 3 weeks ago and I've been experimenting with fermented feed too...but I'm mystified as to how people feed this to their birds? Do you just have to keep going out throughout the day and feed them cup by cup so they don't climb in and bathe in...

    Boys or Girls?

Well, these came from my parents, they kept two more...but so far they all look like this. I'll be shocked if they are all hens in the end! But yes, I would say this is some beginner's luck for sure.

    Boys or Girls?

So no roosters? Besides the obvious guy in the background..:P One of those red ones has some serious tufts (beard?) on it's cheeks like one of my old EE's had. And the other one has a black rump (neither of these traits can be seen very well in my pictures I guess). I do know that the broody...

    Boys or Girls?

Ok, these babies were hatched on August 25th. I know I could be patient and find out soon enough on my own but I thought it would be fun to see if any of you experts have an opinion on what we have. No one is crowing or laying yet, although our rooster has started mounting at least one of these...

    Strange behavior has me worried

My 1 year old EE Dottie is acting very strange and I cant' seem to find any information on here that matches her description. I just went out to change out their water and add to their food and she was very agitated. Her wings were slightly out, tail down and she was pacing. Then went up to...

    Prolapsed vent - so sad!

Thank you Suzie! I appreciate you relating to me. This was an EXTREME case as well! Initially I could get her insides back in but she would bare down and push them out again. It got to where yesterday I couldn't even get them back inside her at all. Everytime I would touch it she would bare...

    Prolapsed vent - so sad!

So, have you had good luck with this before? It sounds like you have. I think ill try it when I get home and see if it helps. I had kind of given up but i want to hear from people if they have seen a bird recover from this and actually become a healthy layer?.......

    Prolapsed vent - so sad!

Thanks for that! It is helpful, just to know someone else has dealt with this too. It's part of the cycle of life I guess, I dont' know what her problem really was, if it was just soft so harder for her to pass, or too big, or what. But, you're right, it's worth it for them to say goodbye. I...

    Prolapsed vent - so sad!

My little hen, Blondie, was in the proecess of laying her first egg today and it got stuck in her vent - I came home to a prolapsed vent with the soft egg stuck inside - so graphic to see. I took a picture but it's on my phone. Anyway, we took her inside, washed it up (there was poop...

13 hens... yet 29 eggs a day. Suspicious?

Wow! That is quite the trick to play! And to make it last so long. Impressive! You're a trooper!

Squatting EE...but no comb at all?

My little EE, Dottie, has started squatting a few days ago. She and my other two EE's are 24 weeks old as of tomorrow. My question is, she has NO comb at all, her ears are red though and what should be a comb is red (just the slightly raised skin there I guess). Is that weird? The other two...
