With the electric hen all I can do is raise and lower it. I have it set at a slight angle and as low as I could get it and them still go under. On the food I will grind some up for them. They seemed to be ok eating it but I don't want to take a chance. I lost 4 today.
They are silkie bantams. Tiny things. My dad has rir and leghorns. This is my first time with silkies. I have 6 2 year old rir. My old man incubates a couple hundred and thinks it's no big deal when you lose some but I don't have that many to lose
Thanks to everyone. Some were twitching after drinking a lot so I got rid of save a chic water and replaced it with regular water so I hope that was the right thing to do. Hopefully they will push there way under the electric hen because some are being not let under
They are 3 days old. They keep huddling around the hen. I put them under but they run out and go huddle again on the outside. About 2 minutes ago they all took off to the food and water and are hyper now
I've got a thermometer it is reading about 90 under the gen an the cool area is 78. The floor is plywood with sand but I have paper towels over the sand for now. They are not eating very much and one that was drinking has started twitching and shaking its head. Some saliva/goo came out of its...
I took the lamp down. I put it up because some would not go under the electric hen. They are in opposite corners and the water and food are In 2 corners on the opposite end. It is a big brooder.
I've got an electric brooder on one side and a heat lamp on the other. Lamp area is 96. Chick starter and water with save a chic in it. 10 seem to be fine but I have 3 more that are not looking good
In Florida. They are 3 days old. I can't figure out what is the problem and my old man is not helping. He said the weak ones will die. 3 were dead under the electric brooder one more keeps stumbling and falling down and getting trampled.
