This rooster’s sire is Grey x Red Junglefowl and his mother is a Huastec. He’s a total spaz and flips out every time someone he doesn’t know comes near his coop. The hen next to him is his daughter.
Not a breed, but I’m on generation 3 of a blue layer project based off of what are quite possibly the two most unlikely breeds imaginable: White Laced Red Cornish and Hmong. This cross tends to be super friendly and they’re remarkably (and unexpectedly) good layers.
I’m going to do it tomorrow! I gave them all a pretty generous dose of Corid and also treated them with oregano essential oil. They looked a little better this evening.
Bloody poops, ruffled feathers, lethargic, the whole gamut. The entire hatch of 6 week old chicks seems to have it. I’m losing them at the rate of 1-2 per day. I started treating with Corid powder 3 days ago, and if anything they look WORSE. I’m doing everything I can: bleaching their enclosure...
I’m doing Hmong x Cornish right now, and what I’m finding is that if you cross a big, tall Hmong rooster with a well-muscled Cornish hen, the offspring will tend to be the overall size, build and ample dark meat of a Hmong, but with a heavier build from the Cornish side.
