His diet is chicken feed, sometimes treat mix. I have been crushing up garlic to put on top of his food once or twice a day, and sometimes I will add oregano, rosemary and thyme.
What is wry neck? I've never heard of that.
We have a buff orpington rooster, about 10 months old. He got into a fight, actually I think he was attacked, by another one of our roosters. He got a couple scratches on his back, which became infected, so we are treating that with antibiotics. He was limping when it first happened, now it...
She was acting fine until yesterday. She's had a pale comb for about a week or so. I have her quarantined. And no, by there are no vets around here that deal with chickens. Last time I had to drive at least a half an hour, it cost over $200 and they still couldn't tell me what was wrong.
I live out in the country. I wouldn't even know where to take her. There are no vets in the area that deal with chickens. I looked for one a few years ago. The closest is at least half hour away.
Anybody know what could be wrong with this chicken? She's had a pale comb for a little Wile but no other symptoms. I don't see any bugs on her. She has been getting pecked on for the past week or so. Today she seems lethargic. I found her tucked in between the water container and the wall. Don't...
I currently have 1 coop with 15 hens and 1 rooster. Our second coop has a mom, 4 chicks (3 of which may be roosters), and 6 four month old roosters. I want to seperate the older roosters but I don't know where to go with them. I was thinking of making a tractor for them, but what about winter...
We had 5 chicks hatch back in June. This one is the runt of the litter. I took her out to clean the wound with warm water. Is there anything else I should do? Right now she is in the same coop with mom, 4 siblings, and 6 four month old roosters.
😭 I was afraid of that. Two of my kids won some chickens from a breeder that they are going to take to the county fair. We found out a couple days ago that all 6 of them are roosters. Now we apparently have another one. What the heck am I supposed to do with all these roosters?! We only have 18...
Can anybody tell if this chick is a hen or a roo? It's dad is a delaware. Not sure who the mom is-either delaware, cinnamon queen, golden comet. We had a BO go broody and decided to let her sit on the eggs. This is the first time we've hatched our own eggs.
Yay! 5 of the originally 7 eggs hatched. I took one egg out at 14 days because it wasn't developing. Last night there was still one egg left. It may have been laid a day after the rest. How long do I wait? Will the hen leave it if it doesn't hatch?
Baby #1 hatched while we were at church
Baby #2 my kids were able to get a video of it hatching. We also have a pip in one of the easter egger eggs.
Bo started pecking at this one and drew a little blood. The kids were concerned so they brought her inside. I put her back under the hen tonight...
