    Despite all the weird places my Muscovies have made a nest, I haven't seen it hinder their hatch rate. The only problem I've run into is that my guard dog loves to eat eggs. Therefore, starting this year, I have to make the 'scovies lay their eggs in their coop unless they're nesting some place the dog can't get to.

    In my experience, ducks in general, lay their eggs in the morning hours. I've just been keeping my Muscovies locked in their coop until they are done laying their eggs for the day, which is usually from 8:00 to 10:00 AM. I know you're having problems getting your ducks to go to their coop every night - that's to bad. Goosy ducks!

    Something that I have found helps my Muscovies be more willing to lay in their coop is providing a three-sided nesting box with a top and a small opening. Then I try to make it look really hidden by piling stuff on and around it like sticks\small branches, dead plant foliage, and hay.
