    The hole in the run fence is a window so the hens can watch us when we're outside, they love to watch. It's also for our two granddaughters, they love to come over and watch the hens.

    Here are a few pictures of the coop I built this summer. So far our girls are very happy except they seem to be rebelling from the new wood shutters I just installed getting ready for winter, but I think they will like them when it turns cold.

    I just installed some curtains that I made out of a burlap feed sack. We will lower them in the evening B 4 they go to roost and raise them first thing in the morning. I never even thought about them noticing their new shutters.

    All of a sudden some of our hens have started roosting in the nesting boxes, What's up with that? I'm thinking about putting up a curtain that I can lower before they go to roost, do you think that will help put them back on the roost?

    Winter is Coming! Checklists, tips, advice for a newbie

    Here in North Texas all I have to do is add a little extra straw in the coop, close the shutters on the windows and make sure their water doesn't freeze.
