My boys do have the entire yard to roam, but it doesn't explain why their feathers come in slower. The group gets all they can eat in the morning, and then all they can eat in the evening, with the day spent foraging.
heres some pics to get the idea. They were the same age then; everyone's a...
I bred my Muscovies, and when the ducklings were still small I sold some. For some reason, my group grew faster and have larger caruncles, but feathered out way slower. I have some males and females, as did they. Swapped one of my girls for one of her boys, and it's fully feathered while mine...
Some celebrity said it. Guaranteed. Some bimbo in California gets an opinion on something, and suddenly the whole world is yelling "Stop the seal hunt!" "Garcia fruit is made of magic and dreams" "Beef contains Horse meat! Horse meat is unsuitable for human consumption!" "everyone should wear...
Mommas just hatched a bunch of little fluffballs, not sure how many yet, or even what colours I might have. Drake is black and white, both ducks are white. Ducklings are everything from straight yellow to yellow and very dark. Hope I get some browns and blues in there. :)
Thank you, three were rotten without doubt, that was some smell! I'm still not over it, can't imagine how bad it would have been if they'd exploded. The ducks must have noticed, I wonder why they just left them in there...
I hope the other eggs are ok, everything stinks from those three eggs, I...
I've got two Muscovies sitting on a shared nest, due to hatch over the next week. I'm worried about the eggs though, as they look very different than the ones I kept back for the incubator. I am aware that the air cell needs to be very large at this stage, the ones in the incubator do look a...
Best I could do for now; it ran through the water dish and wound up bedraggled, usually much fluffier. This chick does not stop moving, and when it does its only because its hiding behind someone else. Meanwhile the silkie is striking a pose. "Look at me, I'm fabulous!"
I got it from a woman who has and breeds good quality birds, I have two Orpingtons from her, a blue and a black, and they're excellent. But, she ordered hatching eggs, not sure where from, and this little bantam was having a tough time being the only little guy in a group of standards. The egg...
I bought a "silkie" chick, to keep the silkie I hatched out myself company, as it hatched alone. Now, any chick would have done, so I'm not hung up on the breed, just curious. It isn't a silkie, that I do know. Here's the specs:
Single comb. Bantam. Black chick down, black wing feathers coming...
Just a fun warning to y'all, white Muscovies look so pretty... until they find mud. I'm thinking Abigail may be Cas's favorite.
Fortunately they clean up nice.
Just corn is a terribly inadaquate diet; yours free range as well, but tosomeone who's animals can't make up for the nutrients elsewhere, corn will lead to deficiencies and sick ducks.
