Chicken keeps bouncing off her feet when we try to help her stand and lies on her side, unable to walk

Just an update!! Every time I went to this chicken in the past three months she made a slight improvement and yesterday for the first time she walked on her own outside!!!! She’s wobbly but able to get around so we are thrilled! She’s been living in the “chicken ICU” since January, hasn’t laid...

Oh man I didn’t even think of the chemical reaction!! Her crop feels soft and squishy but I’ll keep checking it and go look up sour crop so I know what to look for. Thanks!

Thank you for that information! I’ll look into it. I’m in Canada so I’m not sure if they’d ship up here but I’ll check and see. Here most Marek’s testing is like you said, done on necropsy 😢

Chicken keeps bouncing off her feet when we try to help her stand and lies on her side, unable to walk

Hey everyone, I’ve been reading the threads for over a week now and I’ve found some very useful ideas to try but I thought I’d post in case someone sees something that I don’t!! What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) Americauna x...

Any ideas-chick who will not stand

Update: He went rapidly downhill today, foot curled over and leg sticking out to the side, he couldn’t walk properly and kept falling over onto his face. He had vitamins and electrolytes, we put the splay leg brace on him and tried the chick chair and sock trick. I think the stress of that...

Any ideas-chick who will not stand

So just to update, I've had him wrapped in a sock like a burrito, quite tightly rather than just in the sock like before, this seems to calm him and then he stands up in a glass and this seems to be making him stronger. He manages to stay on his legs while lying down now rather than immediately...

I did try a sock but the chick just flips it’s legs above it’s head again. I’m currently trying the dishcloth method as at least it is nice and relaxed with it!!!

Any ideas-chick who will not stand

So I just made one after reading threads on here but the chick won’t keep the legs straight it keeps pulling them up even in the sling! Ok so I tried wrapping the entire leg to straighten it and this is working better but Forrest is not very happy with the situation and Lt. Dan it’s little...

    Blood spot on membrane-after pip

hi Everyone, This egg pipped last night and has made slow progression to a bigger hole today. The chick is still alive because I can see it moving when I shine a light from the outside. The blood is concerning to me but this is my first time with an incubator, normally we let our broody hens...

Any ideas-chick who will not stand

This was the first time incubating, we didn’t open the incubator other than to candle or add water for humidity. I had issues getting the humidity higher than 50% as I live in a very dry climate, will need to look into how to get humidity higher in Calgary, adding more water didn’t seem to do...

This is not going well so far :( 0/3 with our broody hen and at this point hoping for at least one l

Yeah they are a Canadian heritage breed, bred for our cold winters up here. They are dual purpose but they are supposed to be a delayed broodiness. This hen was definitely broody!!!!!

They are Chanteclers. I'm thinking that perhaps the nest she was on was too small :(

So she's been sitting on 10 eggs (of her own collecting), and this is day 22. Yesterday evening we went out and there was a dead chick that it looks like she pushed out of the nest. I couldn't see anything wrong with it, took a picture of it just in case. We lifted her up to check and there was...
