The coloration isn't like either parent, but sort of a blending of the two.
While I'm no expert on the subject, birds that are raised together almost always get along better and would probably be more likely to breed than those that are just thrown together.
Yes, I still have them. They seem to be pretty healthy. They've both escaped several times, but they always come back home. The small one bites hard when handled. The large one has a spur on one leg, so I'm wondering if he might be fertile. They're pretty cool birds, and yeah they'd...
Here's the latest. I believe this first one is be a male. He's large and has spurs, and usually has a long tail. They're both in the middle of moulting so please excuse their feathers.
And this one I think is female.
I promise to get some new pics of the cheasants in the coming weeks. One is the size of a chicken and has developed small spurs, so I'm fairly sure it's a male. The other is the size of her pheasant mother ... probably female, but she has never laid any eggs. They have both gotten out of...

I'll try to get some new pics soon. They look pretty much the same, except one has grown to the size of the rooster, maybe even a little larger, and the other is the size of a pheasant.
Sorry, I haven't abandoned you. Since my last posting I lost another hybrid to a snake. I had to redo the entire pen in 1/2 inch square wire to keep the snakes out. I have two left ... an older one that is a little over two months and a younger one. I tried putting them together, but the...
So here they are at 6 weeks.
The feathers on their backs have a purple sheen, but the camera doesn't capture it.
And a little bit of sad news, a snake climbed up on my back deck, past my dog, and up into their cage and killed one of them. I still have three ... one is several weeks younger...
As an update, the cheasants are growing fast and are shapped like little footballs now. I'll get some new pictures when I get a chance.
Although they were a happy accident, I must admit I've tried this in the past, but I had them reversed (male pheasant to a female chicken) and it didn't...
