Hello, I think one of my girls has frostbite 😭
What should I do? I felt her comb and it’s is still warm to the touch. Not cold, so that’s good. I just don’t know if I should put something on it or what I should do. Thank you.
Thank you everyone. Reading all of these comments, I’m thinking I will try different nesting material first for the fun of it. Then if that doesn’t work I’ll make the lip bigger on the boxes and add padding under the straw.
Ok thank you. It is very weird because they don’t seem to be scratching to change around the nest, more just to scratch and look for things. That’s why I’m thinking I’ll try shavings which is already what I have down on the coop floor so they might be used to it and not scratch it up? That’s...
I have some chickens that are pretty young, probably started laying 3-4 months ago. Well recently they have started to kick all of the nesting material (straw) out of the nesting boxes. Then when they lay eggs the eggs break because the chickens have kicked all the straw out of the nesting...

Hi everyone, I have 7 pullets around 19 weeks old and three of them are starting to get larger redder combs and waddles. For a while when I go to pick them up have been squatting. Will they be laying soon? I will add some pictures of their faces. 1 black sex link, 1 golden laced Wyandotte, and 1...
I have a 17 week old brown leghorn who’s comb and wattles have been growing and reddening. She has also been checking out the nesting boxes a bit. Do you think she will be laying soon?
Thank you! I have 2 brown leghorns, 1 white leghorn, 2 New Hampshire reds, 1 black sex link, and 1 golden laced Wyandotte. The one brown leghorn with the big comb and wattles is so close to laying, 😫 probably just about another week.
I have 7 16 week old pullets that are getting around the age where they should probably be laying sometime in the next month or so right? Anyways, I’ve gone down to the coop multiple times to find 1 or 2 or 3 of them laying in the nesting boxes, or scratching the straw out. I did a little bit of...
