Oh man, that sucks! My babies are inside (haha - in my bedroom!) for now. Not sure yet when I'll move them outside but not for awhile (they are only 5 days old.)

A friend looking at the picture of the chicks thought they were Welsummers but the eggs were a slightly blue-ish white, not brown or speckled.

Aloha! I'm new to this game and am just in the process of designing my coop (my chicks are 5 days old.) I am planning on going with a tractor coop, so glad to hear Brada Puhi recommends it. But I was also worried about mongoose being able to burrow under. That isn't an issue? Will chicken...
I live in Hawaii and we have TONS of feral chickens! I've always joked that I don't understand why eggs cost so much here, since there are chickens EVERYWHERE. So we decided to get what we needed and raise some of the chicks this year. Sure enough, one of the hens nested under our banana tree...
