Comment by 'theamericancorvette' in article 'Top 50 Herbs for Your Chickens'

Wish you had a list for ducks as well. I know the list is probably the same, but they have very different habits. I have chickens and ducks together, so I have never put anything in their water in fear that the ducks may have eye reactions to it, and also ducks are on the coop floor not in the...

What the heck came out of my chicken?

Like was already stated it looks like an egg gone wrong. Increase calcium and keep an eye on her this could lead to other problems

    Do you name your chickens?

Yes everyone has names. Some come to us with names (we have rescue chickens, ducks and cats) and others are named by us. Six hens: Betty White, Pepper, Tangerine, Cinnamon, Lillia, and Pumpkin. Seven ducks: Rue, Daffy, Donald, Ebony, Platinum, Sterling, and Copper. As you can tell most of them...

What would make caring for your flock easier?

For those who have ducks: I have a giant horse trough for them to swim in, a smaller trough for them and a large kiddie pool and a very small kiddie pool, for them(they can swim in them all). It is very hard to keep them as fresh water(I also have chickens). Cleaning them out or just letting...

What would make caring for your flock easier?

Spring is the time of migrations. Be on the look out for migrating hawks. Resident hawks will always be a problem, but in spring and fall migrating hawks may find your flock as an easy meal. Don't forget to look up!

Poll: do you prefer chicken eggs or duck eggs? And are duck eggs harder to sell than chicken eggs?

Hi. Just wanted everyone's opinion, do you prefer to eat chicken eggs or duck eggs or do you not have a preference? Also for those who sell eggs, is it harder to sell your duck eggs, do customers prefer chicken eggs to duck eggs? If I were to sell both should I charge more or the same for the...

pros and cons of using concrete or cinder blocks in construction of coop

Hi. I am currently designing a new chicken/duck coop. I have decided on concrete a floor. But I was thinking of maybe having the walls of concrete blocks at the bottom 2 feet of the walls to help with cleaning duck poo off of walls. Is this a good idea? I know it would be easier to clean, but...

Yes they stay together. Chickens on top, ducks in the bottom. This arrangement has worked for years with my birds

    Droopy butt

I have a female khaki campbell with a droopy butt. Don't know what's wrong with her. Had another male duck maybe ten years ago looked similar before he died. She is probably considered very old for ducks. She is slow to move. Still seems to eat and drink, just not as much as she used to (or...

Beautiful Polish rooster free to good home. Southeastern va.

Hi. Unfortunately I most find a new home for my Polish rooster. He is very beautiful, but he is very aggressive. I want him to go to a good home, maybe without hens for him to be so protective of. He should go to a home where he is either kept in a coop and run situation, or where he can free...
