It really didn't sound fair. But, it clearly states that NPIP limited the enrollment of smaller flocks to 50 members. Maybe they will add more if more funding becomes available.
There is a waiting list for NPIP in CA. They put a limit on membership to 50 members statewide according to their website. I checked and all 50 spots looked full unless someone dropped out. It's Very unfair to small breeders who should like to ship birds and eggs.
Someone asked recently about...
I have raised Barnevelders for several years now. We enjoy them so much. They are beautiful show birds, nice pets, and good layers.
Here are some pics I took after we got back from an APA show this past weekend. We did very well at the show with three of our hens.
The APA standard just lists Barnevelders as Double laced. The only APA accepted color is the Double laced gold. But, here is where it it gets confusing. They are not really gold nor is that part of the name. They are mahogany in ground color, so more of a red rather than just gold. This ground...
Try looking at Lowes or Home Depot. I've found 100-85 watt red "landscape" bulbs. They work pretty well for smaller brooders and don't get too hot. They are for outside ( spot lights etc. I put them in the " heat lamps". Less chance of a fire too, but I make sure the lamps are securely fastened.
You can't judge a breed's behavior from hatchery stock let alone judge a whole breed on an experience with one batch of chicks. Most of my Barnevelders are easygoing chicks. I've raised a few hatchery chicks of various breeds and they were noisier by far. The most skittish was a buff orpIngton...
I did not slander you. I shipped the wrong eggs. I offered you free eggs. I offered you a refund. I offered you started blue pullets IF I hatched any good enough to ship. I only hatched two blue pullets and one was pet quality. Then it got too hot to ship eggs or birds. I offered you a refund...
Hi, I said I will try to get you some eggs later if possible . Last year, I sent you 24 eggs...you only set 14 for some reason. You Got 10 to hatch. Sold all but two as chicks. I offered to send you more eggs right away because I mistakenly didn't send any that were blue . You refused to take...
Do you still have honey in their water? I've read several sources that state that honey is really bad for birds especially humming birds.
"Honey is a natural sweetener, but it is not good for birds. Even the best quality honey can harbor bacteria and grow mold that can be fatal to backyard...
I got my new incubator yesterday:) it's so quiet! My old Genesis was wearing out and vibrating so bad my hatch rates went down though it still held its temp perfectly.
My kids and I had the only Barnevelders in the show. We brought ten. My hen got Best of breed and my daughter's pullet got Res.. The continental class was won by some nice polish and hamburgs. Trisha
