Website doesn't display well on Safari

I am using 5.1.2 as well. On the home page, on the right side of the postings list the words "settings" and whatever are overlapped. I have reduced the font, increased the font, reduced the zoom and increased the zoom to no avail

Miss the updating posts on the home page. Or have I

Thanks all for the advice. I did find the new post listing. Maybe less convinient than the old site but much more complete. Now, I find that my user page no longer has any of the images I had posted. And... just where is our personal album of images?

Miss the updating posts on the home page. Or have I

A couple of times each day I would bring up the BYC site and review the most recent post activity. These are what got me hooked. Is there a location on the new website that has this feature?

Color of a Roo's comb indicate anything in regards to dominance?

We have 3 Bantam roosters that are 6 months old. "Dusty" is a black bantam with a dark comb, Fancy is a partridge bantam and is the largest bird with a dark comb as well, but Roy who has a red comb is the smallest and seems to be the dominant rooster. Roy acted like a rooster from the age of 3...

    How do you use DE?

I put DE every where. First thing in the nesting boxes after they have been cleaned. Spread around the floor of hen house and runs and all those nooks and corners that are hard to reach. It works! Keeps the mites at bay and reduces smell. You can pay way to much for the stuff at most chix supply...

    Rooster with a stabbing issue!!!!

When the spurs get crazy I just get out the dremel tool and saw them off just below the quick. Safer for me, family, pets and the other birds is an ornery roo is denied his weapons.

I Would Love to See Pictures of Your Set Up!

I just love all the new constructions. Some are painfully cute. Our Hen house and Run are comprised of a Lean-to Hen House (10X10) and Run (10X14) at the rear of our old Barn. Outside of that is a fenced yard under tree cover (40X20), then a gate to a fenced 2 acre wood for the Chicken tribe to...

    Prolapse cloaca?

Not to much advice so far from BYC folks but an update is in order. We have kept the rear end of the little bird clean (using a damp q tip), then used a little neosporin and tried to push the "prolapse" back in. The little chick is looking much better now and the protrusion is now more in than...

    Prolapse cloaca?

Hi all! Last Wednesday we received 10 chicks from My Pet Chicken. All were in great shape and are growing well and fast. However, one little chick has a protruding cloaca and is not flourishing like the others. We have read up on the subject but most of the info is in regards to grown birds...

Free Rangers: Talk to me about pest management

We live in the middle of a National Forest and on the edge of a designated Wilderness area. All kinds of chicken eating critters live here. I completely agree with some of the other commenters that a strong hen house and run (coop) is the first and best defense. Nothing goes in and out that I...

Chicken pastures complete. Pics on #19

We keep about 20 chickens and they can free range on about an acre of fenced in forest. (Big Fir and Pine with some Oak). The forest floor is "duff" mostly fir, oak and pine tree droppings. The birds destroy most every plant that tries to get a foot hold on that acre, including young trees. Over...

Are certain breeds less susceptible to hawk attack?

Lost a lovely 18 month old Lavender silkie (Madge) day before yesterday to a young Red Tail Hawk. Over the last 10 years have lost 4 or 5 birds (out of a flock of + or - 20)to hawk and eagle, rooster or no rooster. I have raised Cochin and Silkies of all color combos and it has been my...
