    Chickens in Metuchen, NJ

I'm purchasing a house in Metuchen. I've owned chicken in prior areas and want to start a coop again. What did you find out? Are they allowed?

    The Buckeye Thread

Hi All- I'm new to chickens and was given a pair of young buckeyes. They're about 16 weeks right now. So far, the cockerel has been really nice. When will he grow spurs? What is the general personality of the Buckeye rooster? Thanks!

    wood ash, is that safe?

How often would chickens need to ash-bathe? I have a chicken tractor, so no good place to dump a bucket full of ash in the run. I have a good dry spot under my porch, but they'd only have access to it in the afternoons when i get home from work and they can free range. Is this enough?

post your chicken coop pictures here!

I've used the corrugated PVC roofing before on a dog house and its layer well for 10 years. I just put it on my new coop. I chose the kind that is transparent/tinted like sunglasses so that the hens will get plenty of natural light in there.

Just finished mine. I'll put it on wheels to make it easier to move. I have doors on the side and back for easy access and cleaning.

Is this pullet actually a roo?

BuckeyesinNC, I'm in south eastern KY, about 2hrs from Asheville, NC. I'll give 'em more time to be certain (thanks, Joecool). If it's truly a roo, you're welcome to him.
