We cleaned out her ears about a week ago. The first pic is right before we did her right ear and the second pic is today. Looks pinker rather than red and looks like its drying out and its no longer yellow..hoping eventually her ears go back to normal size.
Just noticed this today...she is a b/w Brahma that is about 2 years old.
I haven't picked her up and looked closely at it so I don't know if it's draining or hard or anything.
She is the only one with this. All other girls are normal looking.
Thanks!
So....My older gals are beginning their molt and of course the days are getting shorter. I have 17 girls (BW Brahmas) that are not old enough to molt yet but they are joining "I am going to stop laying" club. I am down to 3-5 eggs a day from 17-22 a day. I have a total of 28 girls.
Question...
Thanks! These work so well for us. We put 4 3" street elbows (90 degree) in each bucket. You want to make sure you don't cut them too short (see below) because if they are too short, the chickens will take advantage of it and make a mess! The one on the right is the best length.
First, welcome! Chickens are so fun and entertaining!
As for your run material, that depends on what you want! We have two runs one that is completely open on top and one that is partially covered. On the open run we had grass and now we have dirt. We throw treats in there (lettuce, kale...
We use 5 gallon buckets with pvc elbows cut in. Works great! I get the buckets from Firehouse subs at $3 each and the elbows are cheap too! We put them on cinder blocks so the holes are high enough for them to just stick their heads in to eat. No mess and no waste. We are able to use two...
We love the nipples! We have two 5 gallon buckets with nipples and one 55 gallon barrel. We fill the buckets once a week. We clean the buckets periodically and have cleaned the barrel once in almost a year. The great thing about the barrel is that the nipples are high enough that any "stuff"...
We get in the 90s in the summer and we keep our feed in the run in food grade 55 gallon barrels. It is in the shade but it still is in the heat. Haven't had any issues with it. We generally fill two 5 gallon buckets each week with the feed for them to eat!
